Download full count census data from 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1940 for the LIFE-M sample using this new variable LNKLIFEM. For more info about using this variable, refer to our user guide or the documentation at IPUMS.org.
2022 Data Releases
We are pleased to announce new releases of the LIFE-M data for download from openICPSR.
- V5 was released December 20, 2022. This version improved link quality and updated the LIFE-M IPUMS crosswalk.
- V4 was released October 5, 2022. This version improved processes and updated the data.
- V3 was released June 8, 2022. This version has a new file to track county and state of residence at different events in one’s life. We also have updated some variables and the documentation.
- V2 was released March 1, 2022 with the correct citation.
- Our first data release was February 14, 2022.

2021 Board Meeting
We held our annual LIFE-M board meeting on Friday, November 12, 2021. We brought together internal and external collaborators to discuss our progress on LIFE-M and explore possible collaborations and extensions of this research.
