The LIFE-M project is combining U.S. vital records (birth, marriage, death certificates) with census information into a longitudinal and intergenerational micro-database.
Once completed, this project will include four generations of individuals and their families, beginning in the late 19th and covering most of the 20th century. LIFE-M samples from birth certificates and uses cutting-edge machine learning techniques — trained using high-quality hand-linked data — to achieve record linkage on an unprecedented scale. The resulting dataset consists of millions of high-quality links for 20th century Americans.
